Biography
Matt Tarrant has represented clients in a broad range of litigation and transactional matters. He has extensive commercial litigation experience, including contract disputes and business torts. He has also advised private businesses and governmental entities in the role of general counsel. Matt has represented clients in real estate matters from a variety of angles, include ownership and boundary-line disputes, foreclosures, zoning, and commercial and residential lease issues.
Matt’s appellate experience is comprehensive. He has represented clients in matters before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the Michigan Supreme Court, the Michigan Court of Appeals, and Michigan Circuit Court. He has also represented clients before, or involving, a number of state and federal administrative bodies, including assisting clients with administrative investigations.
From 2019 to 2023, Matt served on Active Duty as a JAG in the United States Air Force. In his first assignment, Matt advised commanders regarding military and civil law, while also providing legal assistance to Active Duty members, dependents, and retired military personnel. He also prosecuted criminal and administrative cases. In his second assignment, Matt served as a Victims’ Counsel. In this role he represented crime victims in the military justice system, from pre-investigation through conclusion of the investigation, and as well as during courts-martial.
Matt previously served as a CFLPA registered agent, and negotiated contracts on behalf of American players in the Canadian Football League.
Matt is a member of Mensa, the High IQ Society.
