Biography Andrew J. Hereza is an Associate Attorney in Braun Kendrick’s Business and Litigation Departments. Andrew’s practice focuses on business matters, litigation, and municipal law. Andrew advises individuals and closely held businesses on a variety of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, corporate governance, and commercial transactions. In addition, Andrew guides clients through the estate planning and business succession planning processes. Andrew also assists clients involved in civil and commercial litigation, including real estate matters, shareholder litigation, and contract disputes. Moreover, Andrew’s municipal law practice a wide range of issues involving cannabis law, Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act, eminent domain, zoning, and ordinance development. Andrew earned his Juris Doctor degree from Michigan State University College of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude. While in law school, Andrew was on the Dean’s List every semester and graduated in the top 10% of his class. Andrew received the Jurisprudence Achievement Award for earning the highest grade in his Research, Writing & Analysis class and the Best Oralist Award in his Advocacy class, both earned during his first year. During law school, Andrew served as both an Associate Editor and Staff Editor on the Michigan State Law Review. Andrew also earned a Certificate in Trial Practice from Michigan State University College of Law’s Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Institute, where he focused on pre-trial and trial-related litigation skills. Before joining Braun Kendrick through its Summer Clerk program, Andrew worked as an intern with the Research Division of the Michigan Court of Appeals and with an estate planning law firm in the Lansing region. Andrew also worked as a Peer Evaluator for a legal writing professor during his second and third years in law school. Prior to law school, Andrew worked in the Michigan State Senate, serving as Director of Constituent Relations and in other roles for two state senators. Andrew’s work included assisting constituents with complex state government problems and representing the views of each state senator in conversations and communications with constituents. Andrew earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University, where he double majored in Political Science and Public & Nonprofit Administration with an emphasis in Local Economic Development. Andrew was a fellow with the Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy through Grand Valley State University’s Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies. Outside of work, Andrew is an avid drummer. He has recorded several albums with various bands and artists and has played live shows around the mid-Michigan area.
